The Infrastructure Constellation is my space to map the rapidly expanding universe of AI infrastructure.
I built this project for one reason: most conversations about AI are focused on models, hype cycles, and “intelligence.” Very few people are talking about the actual machinery that makes all of this possible. That is where I live.
I have spent my entire career inside data centers, designing large-scale systems, solving impossible capacity problems, and helping organizations navigate the gap between what they want to build and what their infrastructure can actually support. I am a VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX), a long-time enterprise architect, and someone who knows what it looks like when metal, software, and physics collide.
Now that AI is reshaping everything, the story has become bigger than racks and nodes. We are entering a world of sovereign AI, GPU shortages, multi-trillion-parameter models, thermal realities, supply-chain chaos, and a completely new category of infrastructure: AI factories.
And every company on the planet is trying to figure out what all of this means for them.
That is why this project exists.
Who I Am
I’m Melissa Palmer — enterprise architect, VCDX-236, longtime infrastructure nerd, and AI-in-the-data-center obsessive.
I’ve designed systems for Fortune 500s, startups, public sector orgs, and cloud-scale environments. If it touches compute, storage, networking, GPUs, data protection, or scale-out architectures, I’ve probably built it, broken it, or written about it.
Today, I focus entirely on the intersection of:
- AI
- data centers
- enterprise infrastructure
- hardware economics
- vendor strategy
- and the new world of GPU-driven computing
This project is how I share what I’m learning, what I’m seeing, and what’s
